The Children's Home Society of New Jersey is a statewide, not-for-profit child welfare organization that promotes family and children’s services, neighborhood-based networks, and inter-disciplinary partnerships to promote the welfare of infants, children, youth, and families. The agency has six core service areas: kinship services; early childhood and parenting education services; school-based youth services; child welfare and permanency services; maternal and child health services and family outreach; and mental health services.

This project continues previous Nicholson support for the Mercer County GrandFamily Success Center. The Center is a one-stop community services resource for grandparents and other relatives who have assumed the role of kinship caregivers for children ages birth through 18 years. The Center provides a continuum of services that help families access targeted benefits, work with qualified and trained staff to address family problems, and connect with other caregivers with similar challenges. Center services focus on health, behavioral health, and family life needs. A new focus for this year is helping families use Family Group Decision Making, a strategy that empowers families to discuss problems together and develop written action plans to solve problems experienced by the family.
