The New Jersey Association for the Education of Young Children (NJAEYC) is a professional association of more than 2,000 early childhood teachers, center directors, family child care providers, and other early childhood professionals. As the New Jersey affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, NJAEYC coordinates activities and provides communication services among its members and allied professional associations, as well as advocating for legislation pertaining to the welfare of children to ensure excellence in early childhood education.

This project supports work to build the capacity of the NJAEYC public policy team and membership to actively engage in informing policy and early childhood advocacy. NJAEYC aims to work with its members and national and local partners to develop the critical mass necessary to successfully inform a policy agenda that supports initiatives focused on educators, families, and children from birth to age eight. This project provides an opportunity for NJAEYC to partner with national organizations, such as the National Association for the Education of Young Children and Zero to Three. It also aligns with other early childhood initiatives begun under Governor Murphy’s administration and with the new federal Preschool Development Grant of more than $10 ten million awarded to New Jersey in January 2019.
