Our Goal: To improve the information delivery system for vulnerable communities in New Jersey.

Project Description: This project supports two of the Center for Cooperative Media’s (CCM) initiatives. The first initiative, the Newark Peer Learning and Collaboration Fund, will support journalists and media-makers in Newark in strengthening the City’s local news ecosystem. The second initiative, the South Jersey Information Equity project, will address information deserts within communities of color in South Jersey in partnership with the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists.

About the Grantee: The Center for Cooperative Media (CCM) is grant-funded organization based at Montclair State University’s School of Communication and Media. CCM’s mission is to grow and strengthen local journalism, and in doing so serve New Jersey residents. They work with 280 partners throughout the Garden State, including hyperlocal digital publishers, public media, newspapers, television outlets, radio stations and multimedia news organizations.
