The Center for Care Innovations (CCI) designs and implements programs focused on transforming the healthcare safety net to prepare providers for the future. Key focus areas include innovation, patient engagement, access to care, care for high-risk/high-cost patients, and data analytics. CCI provides research, technical assistance, and funding for specific projects. They also facilitate learning networks for healthcare safety net organizations.

This project supports a planning process for the development of a Healthcare Innovation Center in New Jersey. The Innovation Center would promote activities that encourage safety net providers to think in new ways and devise new types of solutions to improve healthcare delivery and the patient experience for vulnerable populations. In this planning grant, CCI staff are researching various models of innovation centers across the country and coordinating site visits to centers for Nicholson and CCI staff to identify the best model to replicate in New Jersey. Of particular interest are models that explore innovations beyond those focused solely on technology, have built-in sustainability plans, and low start-up costs.
